This issue has returned and we are investigating. The previous fix we implemented did not provide sufficient results. We are currently awaiting a reply from Tesla-support on potential solutions.

Update
A possible workaround has been found
We’re still waiting on a permanent fix by Tesla. In the meantime, the steps below could fixed the issue for some customers.
Step 1: Reconnect your Tesla
- Disconnect your Tesla from your Tibber account using the Tesla Power-up. - Open the Tesla app and go to Security & Privacy → Third-Party Apps → Tibber. Remove Tibber’s access. - Reconnect your Tesla to your Tibber account using the Tesla Power-up. Make sure to grant access to Vehicle Information, Vehicle Location and Vehicle Charging Management. - Don’t forget to create a new virtual key (see below).
How to create a virtual key
- Open the Tesla app and select the correct vehicle. - On the same phone, open this link: https://www.tesla.com/_ak/integration-partners.tibber.com - The link should open in the Tesla app. Follow the prompts to approve adding Tibber’s virtual key. - Connect your car to a charger and let Tibber Smart Charging try to control the charging session.
Which cars need a virtual key?
Model 3 and Model Y: all model years. Model S and Model X: model year 2021 onwards.
If creating the virtual key doesn’t work straight away
- Make sure the Tesla app is updated to the latest version. - Log out of the Tesla app and log back in. - Paste the URL above into Safari, the recommended browser for Tesla. - When pairing, try selecting the phone key option. - Place the key card in the correct position on the centre console to complete the virtual key setup.
Step 2: If the workaround doesn’t work and you have a connected charger
If your car still isn’t charging smartly and you have a charger connected to Tibber, you can keep using Smart Charging through your charger:
- In the Tibber app, add a non-integrated vehicle to your account through Electric Car in the You menu - Open the charger widget, go to its settings and change the car to charge to the non-integrated vehicle you just added. - Plug in your car as usual. Tibber Smart Charging will now control the session through your charger.
Note: A non-integrated vehicle doesn’t share its battery level with Tibber. To get the result you expect, check your charging settings, such as your target charge level and departure time.
Once the issue is fixed, you can switch the charger back to your Tesla in the charger widget settings and delete the non-integrated car through the You menu.
We’ll post another update here when that happens.

Investigating
Some users may see an error message in the Tesla widget stating that we couldn't retrieve their vehicle's location.
We appear to have lost access to the location data for the affected vehicles, even though the users haven't made any changes to the permissions in their Tesla accounts.
We are investigating the issue and will provide an update as soon as we have more information.
